Ladakh. At least once in a lifetime...
You may not find in the Leh bazaar all the riches that are there in the city's fables, but the present spread will satisfy
the art-craft desires of the most picky collector..... the incredible stuff you can pick up like yak tails, old chaang jugs,
giant camel skin bottles used once again for yeagh you got it right .... chaang .an old carved out part of a tree root that
you could use for an ashtray if you dont mind your cigar coming back to your mouth smelling of rancid yak butter since
the root bowl was used for tibetan chaa, the lovely and refreshing tibetan tea, made out of rancid yak butter, salt and
tibetan tea leaves, all made in a churn that has been handed down for many generations, having not been washed for
atleast the last 3, the flavour is greatly enhanced, believe you me. needless to say, the silver jewellery that you can get is rustically fantastic.
The Aryan people of Ladakh dress fantastically. Here mother, daughter, daughter-in-law drink
ceremonial chhang, bedecked with the season's flowers on their head, and garlands of
agate and turquoise silver jewellery!
O the jewellers of Ladakh they have magic in their hands... They'll get your gold!
Little prayer niches are all over the place. Kendall of North Carolina awaits divine blessings!
Yes, there's an 'I' in the itinerary!
we can do what you want if you say "hey but i dont want to sit at this lake, i would rather do a gonpa
thing then we can see some of the most majestic monasteries in the whole world, or if you would rather head into
the Nubra valley and hang out on the banks of the Indus, or hobnob with the Aryan people we can do that too.
basically, Ladakh will change you., and just remember take it easy on the first two days because of the altitude you
can get pretty sick, pretty fast, especially if you have flown.
and i will give you my free invaluable opinion any time, the gods and the
server and the phone lines permitting.who says the best things in life are not free.
